Getting to know me

Getting to know me

This is it!

This is the first post in my brand new adventure – my new blog!

As much as I love designing and writing the paper crafting tutorials on The Papery Craftery, I was absolutely ready to try something new. I’ve been planning this second site for quite a while now, and I’m so excited to share more of my everyday life.

The beginnings of my quilling site, 2014

So, in honor of new beginnings, I’m starting today by answering some ice-breaker questions.

I chose 25 of the questions from the extensive list on Sign Up Genius. They actually had 100 questions, but I would hate to come on too strong on our first meeting!

So, here we go!

Ready, set, get to know me!

If you could live anywhere, where would it be? When my husband and I visited Oregon in 2009 for our honeymoon, we fell in love! Especially the Pacific Coast area.

What is your biggest fear? Snakes. Period. I just can’t.

What really makes you angry?    Fear-based hate, in any form.

What is your proudest accomplishment? I am most proud of completing my art degree. It’s not easy starting college again as an adult, and it took me a long time, but I’m glad I did it!

What makes you laugh the most? Watching other people laugh, especially on TV!

What was the last movie you went to? What did you think? I don’t get to the movies often, but I did treat myself to A Star is Born a few months ago and thought it was incredible!

What did you want to be when you were small? A tie between a veterinarian and an archeologist

If you could hire someone to help you, would it be with cleaning, cooking, or yard work? No brainer – cleaning! I actually like to cook, and my husband handles the yard, so that’s covered too.

What’s your favorite movie? Say Anything, Love Actually, and Muppets Take Manhattan.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?   I think I would pick pizza – as long as I could switch up the toppings every once in a while!

Would you rather vacation in Hawaii or Alaska, and why? Hawaii, please!

How many pairs of shoes do you own?   I’ve never really been a shoe person. I have some boots and sneakers. A couple of pairs of sandals. I might have a pair of dressy shoes somewhere…

If you could share a meal with any 4 individuals, living or dead, who would they be? Ellen DeGeneres, Michelle Obama, Jim Henson, and my Grandpa

What’s your favorite holiday? I’m a big fan of Thanksgiving, but I think Valentine’s Day is my absolute favorite.

What kitchen appliance do you use every day? The coffee maker!

How old were you when you learned Santa wasn’t real? How did you find out? I think I was about 8 years old when Santa accidentally left a couple of price tags on my gifts. Obviously, I had some questions…

Does your family have a “motto” – spoken or unspoken? I drop my son off at school saying “Be kind and be brave”. We also say “practice makes you better” quite a lot.

On a scale of 1-10 how funny would you say you are? I think I’m a solid 8, but my humor is definitely on the corny side. I love a goofy pun!

What was your first job?   When I was 15, I worked at a small FAO Schwarz store in our local mall. I just had to demo toys all day!

What’s your favorite zoo animal? I could watch the elephants all day. Also, the giant tortoises.

How many pillows do you sleep with? I like to have my head on at least 2, but I also like to hold one in my arms.

What would you do if you won the lottery? I will give the most predictable answer to this, but it’s true: I would set aside the funds for my children’s educations. Maybe a new camera for me though…

What was your favorite subject in school? I didn’t appreciate it at the time, but I am fascinated by physics now. I love thinking about how things work.

Which of the five senses would you say is your strongest? This might be true for most people, but my sense of smell is pretty strong.

Is your glass half-full or half-empty?  Even though I’m a natural worrier, my glass is usually half full. In frustrating situations, I have a tendency to say “Well, the good thing is….”.

That’s it. 25 quick questions to get to know me a little bit better before I officially jump into writing posts.

I’d love to hear some of your answers to these ice-breakers! Take a moment and choose one or two questions to answer yourself in the comments below.

And keep moving around my site to read about my views and tips on everything from DIY projects to money-saving tricks!
